PKK kills driver, leaves a note

Those who do not pay tax to the organization will be punished, says a note left in the pocket of murdered driver.

A note was found in the pocket of a truck driver murdered earlier this week as he was transporting supplies to the village of Konur in the Şemdinli region of Hakkari province, where the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) threatened those who didn't pay “tax” to the organization.

According to a statement released by the Hakkari Governor's Office, the note said to be from PKK members who murdered him said: “Those who don't pay taxes, which you may see as extortion, to the organization will be punished from now on.”

The driver was murdered and his truck set on fire on Tuesday.

The governor's office said the violent act perpetrated by the terrorist group showed that it will never change its tactics and was only strong enough to hurt innocent civilians.
